UAP students win first three positions in 'National River Olympiad: Private University Round Competition at IUB

 

The Civil Engineering students of the University of Asia Pacific have won the first three prizes in 'National River Olympiad: Private University Round' was organised at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on April 01, 2017.

The winners are Koushik Bosak, Muhammad Jubayer Ahmad, Sohrab Hossain, Safayat Hossain and Mohammad Sazzad Hossain. All are UAP Civil Engineering students.

About 200 private university students from graduate and post graduate levels participated in the daylong program. Participants had to answer thirty MCQs within thirty minutes. After the competition, a lively and interactive panel discussion based on the questions asked by the participants was held where relevant experts of this sector took part. Later, certificates were awarded to 21 winners who will participate in the final round of River Olympiad to be held at the University of Dhaka.

Among others, Air Commodore (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Security Analyst and Treasurer, UAP and Dr. Muhammad Mizanur Rahaman, Associate Professor, UAP, spoke at the session. In the closing session, certificates were awarded to 21 winners who will participate in the final round of River Olympiad to be held at the University of Dhaka. Among others, Dr. Ainun Nishat, former Vice-Chancellor and Professor Emeritus, BRAC University, Sharmeen Murshid, Member, National River Commission and officials of Riverine People and Samakal Shurid Samabesh spoke in this session.

Earlier, In the inaugural session, AnnisulHuq, Mayor, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) was present as the Chief Guest while Abdul Hai Sarkar, Chairman, ESTCDT was theSpecial Guest and Golam Sarwar, Editor, Daily Samakal was the Guest of Honour. The session was presided over by Prof. M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB.
